Tips On Creating The Memorable Picture

During a memorable, soul-refreshing holiday, one of your urges is likely to be to take a picture that will encapsulate the whole experience – a perfect holiday photo. Such a photo captures the specialness of the occasion while also showing one of the most memorable places you visited and enjoyed. Part of the creation of such a photo, of course, is your own inspiration – seeing a place or a situation and realizing that it is the ideal scene for your picture. However, there are several tips from Fotobuch to bear in mind, also.

1. Choose a memorable scene – the first tip for a perfect holiday photo is to choose a worthwhile place to take it. A beautiful, famous building makes a good backdrop, as does a sunlit beach with sparkling blue water and palm trees. Choosing a locale for your picture that looks good, is as distinctive as possible, and evokes the most pleasant moments of your holiday.

2. Wait for (or arrange) good lighting – if the scene is outdoors, scout it a day or two beforehand to find when the light is at its best. You want a clear light, without the sun glaring directly in the camera, and without evening rays shining into the eyes of any friends or family who are in the picture, making them squint. Within an hour or two of noon is probably best. If the scene is indoors, be sure to arrange as good lighting as possible – preferably, strong but mellow light from several directions.

3. Get a friend, family member, or loved one in the photo – unless you’re on a solo vacation, be sure to get your family, friends, and/or loved ones into the scene. A familiar face will transform your photo from a nice bit of scenery into the perfect holiday photo that you will treasure for years to come.

4. Try to balance the composition – if you are taking a picture that includes a spectacular piece of scenery, a famous or beautiful building, a costumed theme park employee, or whatever, you want to make sure that this object or person is clearly visible. You also want to make sure that your photograph is symmetrical, or that if it is asymmetrical, it is elegantly so. Angle and distance are the main components of correct balance. Take a minute or two to walk around and find the vantage point that gives you the most pleasing view.

5. Take a lot of photos – a big advantage of digital cameras is that you are no longer constrained by the physical quantity of film you can carry or have developed. When you are working on your perfect holiday photo, take many photographs of the scene. Try changing your angle slightly, possibly rearranging your friends or family. When you have many different pictures of the same scene, upload them your computer, choose the most perfect picture, and delete the rest.
